The much-hyped and much-delayed Hotel Le Bleu is finally open for business. Over the weekend, Gowanus Lounge and NewYorkology reported that the 48-room boutique hotel on 4th Avenue—which was originally scheduled to open way back in July—started welcoming guests on Friday. Now it remains to be seen whether the Gowanus hotel’s prices (which start at $306 a night) are gonna fly. Anyone notice any guests going in and out?

  1. From what I hear, Le Bleu is almost full with people checking in every day. I say congratulations to them and wish them much luck. Although I think they are a bit pricey, we do need nice hotels in Brooklyn. They are close to Manhattan. The 9th Ave subway is only a couple of blocks away. There are really nice eateries on 5th Ave, great shopping on 7th Ave and Atlantic Mall. Prospect Park can be just as nice as Central Park. If the city invested in PP as much as CP, it would just as famous.Le Bleu should do well.

  2. Where are the trees? The Hotel Le Bleu website shows it surrounded by trees, and what might be snow-capped mountains. Also, the building itself bears only a vague resemblance to the shiny computer rendering.

  3. The Marriott chain is owned by Mormons, which is to say nut-case cult members with all sorts of weird, right-wing agendas and bigotries (they didn’t allow blacks to join until 1978, and I haven’t even touched on the polygamy and pedophilia)–so I don’t stay there. Marriott also owns the Ritz-Carlton chain. They no get-a my bidness.

That said, this Le Bleu joint looks like a crazy idea to me–whatevs.

  4. I was checking for rooms for the Monday and Tues of Thanksgiving week and they wanted over $400. That is nuts. Rather stay at the Marriot for that price, they have a pool.

  5. Any update on Hotel Le Jolie (sister hotel in Williamsburg)? It seemed like they might be getting ready to open – driving pass this weekend, I saw curtains in the hotel windows and lights on.
