132 Wyckoff has been in a state of suspended animation for years, so we were excited to bike past yesterday and see some workers hauling out debris into a large dumpster parked on Hoyt Street. Despite there still being some kind of Stop Work Order on the property left over from 2003, a permit for, lo and behold, debris removal was issued on Wednesday. It kinda makes you think that the plans that were filed for a two-story addition and the creation of six residential units might actually come to fruition! GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. I only walked by one sunday when closed…but if had a camera/camera phone would have sent to Brownstoner….
Now I think it is imperative that he go there. I tried googleing but nothting came up….so he could be the 1st media attention on something that looks unique.

  2. re: shoe place

i’ve always wondered if he made a typo in his sign, which reads “make shoes out of your garage” (and i wonder if it was supposed to say “make shoes out of your garbage”).

  3. Petebklyn: It’s a bootmaking school. It’s owned by an odd French guy who tecahes you how to make your own boots for $400 or so. He has these oldtime Singer sewing machines hooked up to computers. He’s really nice. It’s a very odd choice for him to set up show there, but a nice breakup to the: pizza place, liquor store, bodega troika. Stop by! He’s very cool!

  4. oh, and this place looked structurally unsounds. Hope gets torn down and something else gets put up. Just so much litter, etc.

  5. If you walk by every day, what is that business next door(or 2 doors down) — looks kinda like art gallery- or making shoes out of something?

  6. Hey – i walk past this place daily, too.

How do you know if they’re removing asbestos, and, more importantly, how do you know if they’re removing it properly?

Thanks o wise ones of the Board.
