When 20 Midwood Street sold for $1,457,5000 in 2005, it was the biggest house sale in the history of Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Now, six years later, the limestone beauty is back on the market with an asking price of $1,780,000. The interior is pretty spectacular on the architectural detail front–woodwork, moldings and mantels out the wazoo–and everything’s in immaculate shape as well (including a new chef’s kitchen that’s gotten the Sub-Zero treatment.) Lots to love so we’ll see if the deep-pocketed buyers are willing to take the PLG plunge.

  1. Who knows if it gets that price but it definitely looks to be a super nice house…and those features aren’t something I’m seeing other than maybe in the Slope for maybe double the price.

  2. Beautiful, wonderful, fabulous house. Crazy, ridiculous, never-will-get it price.
The folks two doors down were one of the first to lose money on a PLG townhouse, which was also lovely. These people will also lose money.
No one in their right mind is going to overpay for this. No one.
Why would you set the price so much higher above anything that sold even at the very tippy top of the market?

  3. The houses on this block are fantastic. In my knowledge everything that’s been for sale in PLG has sold pretty quickly and pretty close to ask. But I have to say it, I think this price is very ambitious. The sales mentioned that were record-breakers had more modern updates than this house. The one on Maple II had central air and forced air heat. The house on Midwood that got $1.6mm had zoned central air/heat and T1 lines hardwired into the walls, stuff like that. This place doesn’t have central air, at least not according to the listing.

  4. No big deal as far as I’m concerned, it is their website after all. And if you prefer you can always go to the realtor’s website and type in the address and voila, there it is, takes about 10 seconds.

  5. This is a beautiful house.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it annoying to be linked to the brownstoner marketplace listing instead of the realtor site — especially when the marketplace listing doesn’t have a floorplan?

  6. FLW, FWIW, I believe you are correct. Six of the top ten sales were on Midwood Street followed by Rutland which had four. Just recently the smaller Realty Associates house on Maple II joined the ranks. The sale on Lincoln I between Flatbush and Bedford was just shy of 1.3M; very impressive for a free-standing frame house.
