House of the Day: 375A 12th Street
This listing at 375A 12th Street is not the run-of-the-mill South Slope house you’d expect based upon the view from the street. Behind the 19th-century facade is a totally renovated home with a thoroughly modern feel (though there are a few original aspects that have been maintained). Overall, it appears to be very nicely done; in particular, we like the choices in the kitchen and the back facade that’s made up almost entirely of glass. Of course, they’re not giving it away: The asking price is $2,200,000, which is a lot of ducats for a 2,500-square-foot pad in the South Slope. It’ll be interesting to see where this ends up.

trust me, it’s a design error. a whopper.
“what’s up with the red paint on the front yard cement? What a doozie of a design error!”
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s an error.
“This glamorous townhouse is a stunning example of what happens when you merge greed-indeed delusions of grandeur with the judgment impairment of crack cocaine.”
Pun intended, Minard?
🙂
This block is surprisingly crappy.
well, yeah, I like a half bath near the kitchen.
Thing is, they had the room here to do it better. Even could have put it right where it is, above the bath below, without the need for running waste lines horizontally, if they’d made that a back hall behind the stairs, which they could have done by taking down some of the dining room walls and moving the kitchen over a bit, more open to the dining room, even if the kitchen were to be on that floor.
I was about to argue with the poomist brigade (I’m putting a half bath near the kitchen in my reno) until I realized that one really is IN the kitchen…
true, but as with elaborately designed but ugly kitchens, I’d take the blank canvas over someting I hated anyday.

Inside looks very nice, but the garden is very sterile.
That would be a “blank canvass” in brokerspeak.
