The McGovern Florist building across the street from Green-Wood Cometary that hit the market last year is now in contract. The landmark building, which is on the corner of 25th Street and 5th Avenue, was asking $775,000, or $1,500,000 along with an adjacent wood-frame house. According to Sean Kelly, one of the CPEX brokers who listed the property, both buildings are in contract and the sale will probably close within a couple months. While Kelly couldn’t give specifics about what the buyer plans for the space, he said “it’s not necessarily a flower shop, though it will serve as an amenity to the cemetery.”

  1. Amenity? A NICE RESTAURANT FOR EVERYONE TO GATHER AFTER THE FUNERAL, duh! And by “nice” I mean a menu friendly to children and the elderly, elegant enough to respect the departed but not too expensive for the newly bereaved to afford. Think Milleridge Inn on LI.
