The Lofts on Lex, the condo building at 95 Lexington Avenue, has had some trouble on the sales market, but we’re digging this two-bedroom unit for rent by owner. Lofty features include the exposed ductwork and the sealed yellow industrial door in the living room. There are also some nice perks like a washer/dryer unit and a newish-looking kitchen. The two and a half bathrooms are also a big plus. The rent come in at $2,700, which doesn’t sound too crazy. What do you think?

  1. $2,700 is not bad for the building and unit itself. The apt is large, but as for the area, hmmm dunno. I love both buildings there, huge, lofty spaces. We thought about buying but decided the closest train being the G wasn’t really worth it. Its just a tad far from the C train on both sides, Clinton or Franklin.

As far as comparing rent to buy with FHA, that doesn’t make sense. If its an actual 20% down then may be worth it.

  2. “ugh and wtf is wrong with that? why do moonfaces want every square inch of the city to be 100% sanitized?”

nothing – but paying $2,700 bucks to live around that? pass

  4. Yes, really glad we didn’t buy. Well, also sad because I loved the house we were going to buy, but there was no way we could have managed the work it needed, even if the job thing hadn’t happened.

Only having one kid makes the school equation a lot easier, I realize. We’ve been really lucky with schools — that’s about the only thing that is going well for us at the moment.

On a related topic, I need to stop moping around and start making some money. Thanks for the good wishes 🙂
