We’re kicking off the weekend with a double dose of burger openings in Downtown Brooklyn. First is Jake’s Wayback, the Connecticut-based chain covered here before. Fork in the Road writes, “[Jake’s] claims to serve ‘big, juicy hand-made burgers and real milkshakes,’ much like Shake Shack, which, according to Google Maps, is 0.1 miles from Jake’s.” We also got a press release from Marty Markowitz announcing Five Guys opened today at 2 Metrotech Center. The company is planning 12 more stores in Brooklyn over the next two years.

  1. I wish there were more burrito joints in Brooklyn. The best ones are in Manhattan and tend to be horribly overpriced. Their cheap little brother, the taco seems to be more priced accordingly, often coming in at around 2 to 2.50.

Burgers are meh. They are fairly unhealthy, and often push up into the 8 and 9 dollar range of purchases. That’s well above the usual 2.75 slice of pizza. (often what I see as the standard price in Manahat and Brooklyn too)
