The retail space at One Main Street in Dumbo has been vacant since the high-end kitchen store moved out a year or so ago. It struck us that it would be a great spot for a restaurant but we remember hearing that the building’s condo board didn’t want more food on the ground floor. (Bubby’s has been on the other retail spot for years.) So we were surprised to read on the South Brooklyn Post on Friday that there is a new tenant and it’s a restaurant. The folks behind the popular newish restaurant Colonie on Atlantic Avenue are going to try to work their magic in the generally food-challenged neighborhood of Dumbo with a new spot called the No Name Hunt Club. According to the blog post, the menu will feature “locally-sourced, sustainable and organic foods,” not particularly surprising in this day and age but most likely a welcome addition to the nabe; Community Board 2 has already voted to support the liquor license application. From what we gather, the restaurant will have about 30 seats and will take up only part of the empty space (which is shown in a photo on the jump). The rest of it, according to a tipster, may be a bakery.
