Yesterday afternoon, after months (or years, really) of anticipation, Jane’s Carousel opened on the Dumbo waterfront in its $9 million Jean Nouvel-designed acrylic cube. All sorts of Brooklyn bigshots were there–from Marty to Mike (both of whom are shown in this YouTube video from gomets9–to check out the refurbished 1920’s horses (48 of them) and cheer on what is sure to be a big tourist attraction for years to come. That guy with the umbrella is a very crucial staffer, Bloomberg starts to emit smoke and melt if he gets wet. It’s nasty.
That is just gorgeous. Can’t wait to go see it. They did a beautiful job and I love the glass enclosure.
