A reader wrote in wondering what’s happening at the empty lot at Franklin Avenue and Hancock Street in Bed Stuy: “It is a fairly large undeveloped property next to the Brooklyn Library. I live in the neighborhood and after it being vacant for many years I now see scaffolding equipment piled up in the area. I heard that the church on Claver Pl. had sold it to someone.” The Holy Trinity Baptist Church at 10 Ralph Avenue did sell the lot to a developer last year for $1,500,000. But no permits have come through to build just yet. When the lot was sold it was zoned non-residential and the zoning hasn’t changed since. Does anyone know what kind of development is being prepped for here? GMAP
