The city has committed $20 million to fund the second phase of the reconstruction of DUMBO’s Belgian block streets and also permanently build out the Pearl Street Triangle so that it becomes a plaza. The Dumbo Improvement District is going to work with relevant city agencies like the DOT on the Belgian block reconstruction, which will probably include Main Street and parts of Plymouth Street, Pearl Street, Adams Street and Anchorage Place. Meanwhile, there will be public input sessions for the Pearl Street Triangle project, where the idea is to create a “world-class plaza space between the Pearl Street Triangle and the adjacent Archway under the Manhattan Bridge.” The first phase of the Belgian block reconstruction, on Water and Washington streets, is supposed to wrap this month.

  1. historic looking, but i like that they are they naturally traffic calming materials. the shake and rattle even keeps the yellow cabs behaving. It is obvious that dumbo wants to be soho.
