As we were perusing this new listing at 178 Garfield Place, the first thing we thought was, “Wow, this seller has amazing taste and style.” The second thing we thought was, “Wait, this looks familiar.” And it was. This four-story townhouse was featured on the cover of Domino magazine in 2009, five years after the J. Crew creative director bought the North Slope house for $1,308,000. (We couldn’t find the Domino article online but luckily it was reblogged elsewhere. It also turns out that the house was featured in a British shelter mag called Living Etc. ) Anyway, beautiful place, great location, nothing not to like, really, except maybe the price, which weighs in at a hefty $3,750,000. Who knows: It’s definitely the kind of place someone with dough could fall in love with and just have to have.

You couldn’t take a shower without getting water all over the floor. And the pipe for the washer dryer goes right through the kitchen. It doesn’t look good.
This is the most overexposed, overhyped house ever — it’s constantly in magazines and blogged and linked to online. The black chalkboard paint and totally impractical (and to my taste, ugly) tub in the bedroom started a huge trend. Lyons is getting divorced and dating Courtney Crangi, the sister and business partner of jeweler Philip Crangi.
