Ditmas Park/Windsor Terrace
Pictured above, The Ditmas Park Blog covers the opening of Bistro 915, a sandwich and soup joint on Cortelyou just west of Coney Island Avenue. Apparently “the fries are killer.” In Windsor Terrace, the owners of Piccoli, a takeout spot on PPSW, have expanded to Park Slope and opened a site-down restaurant at 522 6th Avenue. And Play Kids, a new toy and baby shop, just opened near the Parkside Ave Q stop on Flatbush Avenue.

Park Slope
Cheese snobs rejoice: Valley Shepherd Cheese opened at 211 7th Avenue with 20 varieties of cheese available, most of sheep and cow milk. Here’s Park Slope also tells us The Painted Pot is moving into the northern end of the Taqueria space (the old Ozzie’s owners are opening a coffee spot in the southern end) and Soup Bowl II is coming to the North Slope. Finally, here’s more details on Piccoli Trattoria, the new kid from Windsor Terrace.

Williamsburg/Greenpoint
Grubstreet checks out Allswell, a a 47-seat gastropub at 124 Bedford Avenue. Spotted Pig alumni Nate Smith has a menu showing off “unabashed Anglophilia (via, say, corned-beef-and-cabbage pie) but also a savvy New York eclecticism.” Here’s Greenpoint profiles Charlotte’s Patisserie, the new French bakery at 596 Manhattan Avenue. Also on Manhattan Avenue, Seven Hills Cafe closed temporarily for unknown reasons.

Elsewhere
On the Columbia Street Waterfront, longtime furniture shop Sokol Bros. closed its doors. After 60 years on the block, the owners were ready to retire. A Brooklynian commenter wonders if Parkside Diner is closed in Prospect Heights. (Here’s Park Slope says its closed for good.) A Family Dollar is soon to open on Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. A new coffee bar called Bar Punto is getting ready at 14 Jay Street in Dumbo.
