Construction has started on a new single-family townhouse at 314 Hicks Street, on the corner of State. Plans for the building have been in the works for a long time: Landmarks approved a design here in 2007, and construction was supposed to begin the following year. The developer also renovated the townhouse next door, at 45 State Street, and sold it for $3 million. Here’s the description of the new build via the developer’s website: “314 Hicks Street is a newly constructed red brick single-family residence–a modern reinterpretation, in early Greek revival style, of the classic townhouses that are found throughout the historic neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights.” A rendering of how it’s supposed to turn out is pictured inset, above, and the asking price is a cool $6.2 million. Think that price will fly in today’s market?
