The parlor floor of this brick-and-limestone house at 425 4th Street is gorgeous, as is the bay-windowed facade. It’s a little hard to know about the rest of the two-family house since there aren’t a lot of photos. We suspect that most buyers who can plunk down the $2,495,000 asking price will want to jettison the awkwardly located rental apartment on the top floor to create a generous single family. Thoughts?

  1. is the english basement unfinished? wonder if it has clearance. square footage on PS seems to exclude it, but that would be the place to make a blow-out kitchen with the works. if its liveable, that would be over 4300sf. if not, you need a discount because fully renoed i’m estimating it would be $1000/sf. digging out and refinishing the basement would bring that down, but still its just too much me thinks.
