Even though the listing for 370 Washington Avenue admits that the four-story brownstone needs a “loving touch” to bring out its full potential, we’re really liking the raw material a new homeowner would be working with: all the original stuff you’d hope for is here, from parquet floors to crown moldings to marble mantels. The house is less than 17 feet wide, but the upside there is that you get a lovely center stair and the generous landings it comes with. The asking price is $1,800,000, a number that’s hard to get your arms around without knowing how much you’d have to spend on fixing the place up. No matter what, though, this place has a special feel to it.

  1. Was there this past weekend. The place is gorgeous but it needs all new plumbing and electrical. The “kitchen” is in the front room on the parlor floor. It needs a total gut (no cabinets, ancient stove) and you really can’t put a 20k Ikea kitchen in a house this beautiful (or expensive).
