Eater is reporting that Dekalb Market, the collection of shipping container shops that opened last year in an empty lot at Flatbush and Willoughby Avenues in Downtown Brooklyn, is being relocated by its landlord this fall to make way for the next stage of the massive mixed-use project known as City Point. While the operators always knew they could be forced to leave at any point, they said in an email to vendors that they were “disappointed” by the developer’s plans to begin construction so soon, a reflection perhaps of the flourishing Brooklyn real estate market. There’s no official word yet on where the market will relocate to (the operator says it has “identified a couple of [new] sites”) though one likely spot would the private parking lots across Gold Street. Regardless, it’s going to be a challenge to replicate the exposure of facing Flatbush Avenue. Tough break indeed.

  1. Surveying crew out at the old Pepper & Potter lot this morning too. That’s three stalled lots showing signs of life in one day, must be a first day of summer thing.
