There’s been considerable progress at the Greenpoint Emergency Medical Station at 332 Metropolitan Avenue between Roebling and Havemeyer since construction began last summer, though we’d be surprised if the projects hits its August ETA. (We’re not sure why they’re putting Greenpoint in the name when it’s located firmly in Williamsburg but such is the case.) According to Inhabitat NYC, the New York City Fire Department is opening this station as part of a citywide plan to increase EMS stations and reduce response time. The glassy design, which you can see here, is supposed to give the impression of the second floor floating above the ground.
