The Greenpointers Blog reports that crowdsourcing fundraising startup Kickstarter is moving its headquarters from Manhattan to Greenpoint. The new locale? 58 Kent Street, the landmarked factory under renovation earlier this year and the former home of the Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. The building had previously been vacant for years. The Real Deal reports that Kickstarter has purchased the building for $3.6 million using capital from its last round of funding. Greenpointers writes that the renovation project included “a new rooftop addition clad in oxidized metal, a new interior glass courtyard and new windows and doors on the Kent Street facade with corten steel frames.” The architect on the job was Ole Sondresen.

  1. That’s great! Good for them. They’ve successfully funded over 27,000 projects, and with their cut of the funds, I imagine they don’t need to kickstart anything.

Speaking of which, why not help out a Brownstone Brooklyn based handbag designer who’s doing all her manufacturing here in BK as well!
