The days are numbered for the two gray townhouses at 438 and 440 Atlantic Avenue, between Nevins and Bond in Boerum Hill. Barrett Design and Development just closed on the property with redevelopment plans in store. Says architect and developer Alex Barrett: “It’s still pretty early but we intend to demolish the existing buildings and construct a new mixed-use building on the site.” There are no renderings or drawings just yet. It’s a 90-foot lot and each property has an allowable FAR about three times larger than the current building on site. That stretch of Atlantic Avenue is not landmarked. Barrett Design has mostly done conversion work in the borough, including the condo project 25 Carroll Street and now-under-construction 123 Fort Greene Place. GMAP
