The main building of the former St. Vincent De Paul Church on North 6th Street in Williamsburg is being gutted for a conversion to rental apartments, just like the smaller parish building to its left. The parish house has already been converted and began renting its 10 three-bedroom units last December, according to StreetEasy. The most recent alteration permits for the church building show a planned 92 units and 40 parking spaces.

An LLC called North Flats purchased the two church buildings in December 2011 for $10,700,000, according to PropertyShark. The historic church was built in 1869 and designed by religious architect Patrick Keely, but it had fallen into disrepair over the years. The Brooklyn Diocese, which had renamed the church St. Anne’s Armenian Cathedral in recent years, shuttered the building in 2005 because it didn’t have the funds or the congregation to keep the doors open, according to a Brooklyn Paper article about the sale.
