Wi-Fi on the free shuttle, additional Citi Bike stations, and tons of parking are just some of the goodies in the works to entice visitors and workers to the Navy Yard’s soon-to-open Building 77 and its food hall, anchored by Russ & Daughters, according to new details and renderings revealed by a new leasing document from the Brooklyn Navy Yard. We have all the details below.
Building 77, a 1,000,000-square-foot former storage warehouse and the Yard’s largest structure, is currently under extensive renovation, slated to reopen as commercial space in 2017. The behemoth’s tony top two floors will be known as The Beacon, offering unobstructed views of Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn, 140,000 square feet of commercial space, and 11 foot ceilings.
Building 77 will include 16,000 square feet of usable rooftop space and eight 1,200-square-foot private terraces.
As well, the information packet gives further insight into the yard’s two-loop shuttle service: It will have Wi-Fi, and bring workers not just to local subway stations but also to the LIRR. In addition, the yard will have seven Citi Bike kiosks and 1,600 parking spaces.
Building 77 will offer numerous benefits and incentives, including the Relocation and Employment Assistance Program — REAP — which provides business income tax credits to businesses previously located outside New York, or below 96th Street in Manhattan, that are relocating jobs to the outer boroughs or specified areas above 96th Street.
Building 77 is just one of the Navy Yard’s many in-the-works construction projects: the Green Manufacturing Center, Dock 72, Steiner Studios and Admiral’s Row are also all undergoing a massive reconfiguring and development. Once complete, the Yard will grow to 16,000 workers with an estimated annual economic output of $2.35 billion.

Riding CitiBikes will be a real joy amid all that parking. Ugh. Shuttle buses will be jammed in traffic all the time, too.
This piece does not mention anything about the shuttle picking up customers/shoppers, only workers. Hope that is not the case.
The shuttle will only service Yard employees and their visitors
This is because only BLDG 92 is open to the public at the Navy Yard. Once it opens, the food hall will also be open to the public
