Ledger and Williams Opt for Brownstone Brooklyn

heathMultiple media outlets have reported that screen stars Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams (with bun in oven) have taken up residency in a brownstone in Brooklyn. According to last week's US Weekly, the couple have been spotted "sitting on their porch wearing sweatshirts with their hoods up so they can people-watch." They don't even have to worry about getting harassed for autographs because everyone "just thinks they're Brooklyn hipsters." None of the reports we've seen have mentioned which neighborhood Ledger and Williams have settled in. Anyone know?

They could live next door to me for all I know -
'cause I never heard of them or would never recognize faces and certainly wouldn't ask for autograph.

I heard they're living in Carrol Gardens.

Posted by: lc at June 21, 2005 9:38 AM

who are they, anyway?

i read something on gawker but can't find it- what ever happened with the entourage guy? (i found it funny on the show they were looking for real estate and what 1 mil would have bought them in LA, knowing what 1 mil bought him in Brooklyn), i finally walked over on that block sunday on the way to a friends and it was so quiet and really had a good feel back around putnam, grand and over to claver and jefferson where we ended up-

they've been spotted at grdn on hoyt street in bourem hill

Heath was spotted on a skateboard outside the Rite Aide on Smith Street...

ummm... who really cares where they chose to reside? does it somehow make a difference to the neighborhood or to Bklyn in general? come on, let's stop out of page 6 if we can.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 11:01 AM

I think most likely Carroll Gardens or Cobble Hill (I saw them on bikes at Clinton and 2nd two weekends ago), which is just what we all need...

come on, it's harmless fodder

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 11:10 AM

who are this people ?
I am rally not that familiar with american pop culture
anybody please?

Posted by: malymis at June 21, 2005 11:27 AM

Hey Brownstoner, I never realized your user base was so pop culture illiterate. Maybe it's a sign that we need more movie theaters in the Brooklyn. Perhaps Ratner should put up a few more multiplexes. Then everyone could get out of their brownstones once and awhile and revel in good old fashioned Hollywood entertainment.

They own a townhouse on Douglass Steet that they are renovating (btwn Smith & Hoyt).

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 12:05 PM

Having a new B list actor move to the Borough is only going to set Brooklyn back, how is our Ratnerssance going to go forward when we celebrate the arrival of B list actors. This must stop!

Posted by: ratnerville at June 21, 2005 12:16 PM

Let's just respect their privacy.

Seriously, this is the most ridiculous dialogue I can recall on Bstone. For good ole fashion star-gazing there's always the National Enquirer -- do they have a blog?

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 1:18 PM

Get off you sanctimonious hi-horse. Celebs rule! Still, Douglas Street seems unlikely.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 1:33 PM

Aw, come on guys, cut us a little slack. We don't have to be serious around here all the time!

Posted by: Brownstoner at June 21, 2005 1:59 PM

My friend's mother brokered the deal. It's a brownstone on Douglas btwn Smith and Hoyt.

Posted by: coldsnuck at June 21, 2005 2:50 PM

Please people - its spelled 'Douglass'.
And a question -another street with 'ass' in spelling - maybe Mr. Brownstoner himself might venture an opinion - on pronunciation
of 'Classon Avenue'.
Seems that subway conductors pronounce 'Clawson'
as opposed to 'Class-son'. Which is it?

Posted by: Anonymous at June 21, 2005 3:49 PM

Actually Id say B+/A- list celeb.

Posted by: David at June 21, 2005 9:02 PM

FYI, there are no houses with "porches" (maybe the writer meant "stoop") on that block of Douglass St., but yes, I've seen them strolling down the street.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 22, 2005 10:32 AM

Spotted them on Fulton St yesterday. Think they were argueing.

some of these postings are ridiculous. the beautiful thing about the people of Brooklyn is that we simply don't give a damn who lives in our neighborhoods. the reason why celebrities are moving to brooklyn is because there is a feeling of comfort and privacy throughout the borough...a feeling that's difficult to find in most cities. I admit, i'm a huge fan of both ledger and williams, and have seen them numerous times since they've moved into the neighborhood, however, becoming paparazzi-like, spreading word on where they live, and where they eat, and what they do is none of my business. and that's exactly what'll make these low-key celebrities move out of our beautiful borough and give us natives a bad name. i respect and love the fact that celebs love brooklyn so much that they'll leave the hollywood hills and the glamorous manhattan to chill out and relax on a good ol' stoop. So let's not bother them, and help refrain from letting Brooklyn turn into Hollywood. we're better than that.

Does somone actually know were they are living!!!

Posted by: I want to know at July 28, 2005 2:05 PM

Lots of beautiful people live in brooklyn, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Chris Rock, John Tutturo, Steve Buschemi and loads of others... its not suprising that beautiful people would love the coolest borough in the world!

they moved out real quick from an apt on 2nd place in brooklyn, We overheard the renting agent talking about how they beat the landlord but the realtor was happy cause she sold them their house for over 3.5 million. we were in Bklyn bridge realty a few weeks ago and the office was buzzing about the incident. Did they really beat the landlord, does anyone know where they lived on 2 place???

Posted by: anonymous at December 29, 2005 10:48 PM

lived on 2nd place. they lived all over 2nd place. bike, skateboards, motorcycles, bmw -- how the hell did any one miss them -- now they moved to boring hill -- two blocks from a city housing project. can't wait they start ducking bullets over boring hill -- they live on a main street (hoyt street) now everyone is paparazzi, get your cell phone cameras ready...

haha..this is classic, being a fellow aussie living in the slope, its great to have another one around the place...someone to kick the footy with now lol

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2006 9:39 AM

Coldsnuck: As a native Brooklynite, from Prospect Heights and Clinton Hill, I can tell you it is pronounced "Claw-son."

I could mention at least three other famous celebrities living in Brooklyn but, geez, let these people have a little privacy in their private lives.
