  1. Well, Krying for Kent, to call them “scheduled” walkthroughs is a bit of a stretch. I think that our contact at the Developers Group is doing all they can to give us as much info as possible. I guess I’m dealing with someone very optimistic, but at the same time they seem very honest about when we’ll get in. I have to figure they keep setting deadlines that fall through. I started a blog that will document what has happened to this point to my knowledge. http://www.movinin.blogspot.com
I’m just learning how to get it started so I hope it doesn’t suck. In addition to the yahoo group, feel free to make comments and I will post the info. Enjoy!

  2. It’s been a little over a year since I put my money down for a unit in the building. Recently we were told the week of Nov 7 for a walk through. Now were told it’s the week of Nov 14th. “Just waiting for an elevetor inspection” is what they say. However, that only affects floors 5 and above. Appearently 2 – 4 are ready to go. I don’t see how. Also, I don’t know why they changed contractors, but I do know a worker died on the sight. Might be unrelated to the delay, don’t know. We were also told we might have to move in before the appliances are installed.(It’s an elevator thing ya know). The only positive to this whole thing is that the people who we have been in contact with at the developers group have been extremely nice. In September I told my lawyer that I can’t get mad about this just yet. He said give it time. Holy shit was he right.

  3. Actually, development was halted for a while because the developers fired the contractors and had to hire new ones. Apparently, some workers got injured on the site and are taking legal action. Last I heard, construction has resumed under the new contractors.

  4. Thank you for the reply, Babs.

Do you know if construction for the Kent is indeed back on?

In September the Developers Group spoke of an October closing. But all has gone quiet over the past 30 days.

  5. That’s an interesting possibility Emu — but construction on the Kent was halted for months for some reason. I haven’t heard anything about this being a 3M development, and it doesn’t fit in with their SOP, which is outsize new construction (a la The Spencer and the other building they built over on Skillman (I think) which has never been occupied and has been for sale for months), whereas The Kent is a former factory building being transformed into lofts.

I’d be interested in knowing exactly what is really holding this project up.

  6. Does anybody know if the DOB refusing to grant C of Os is the cause of the delays in the closing date for the Kent on 970 Kent Ave?

Is the Kent a Mendel Brach, Moshe Oknin and Moshe Roth development?

Any information would be appreciated, as buyers are being told by The Developers Group that the prolonged closing is due to the time it is taking to get the building’s elevator inspected.
