The Landmarks Committee of Community Board 6 gave a new addition to Poly Prep’s Prospect Park West campus the thumbs up last Thursday night, reports the Brooklyn Eagle. After an earlier design was rejected last year, the school turned to the architectural firm of Platt Byard Dovell and White to create the current proposal. Looks okay to us. What do the Slopers out there think?
Praise for New School Building [Brooklyn Eagle]
I think the new extension will be beautiful both inside and out. So far, the construction has gone smoothly and has not interfered with the daily lives on the community members. I am excited for Park Slope and for Poly Prep. EXCELLENT WORK!
Anything is better than the Science Center they erected in the Dyker Heights campus a couple of years back. That disgusting building made my walk to school every day even worse…
I don’t have an opinion about it myself, but I do know that this extension has been very controversial in the immediate neighborhood. Anyone know what the issues are?
Much better.
these guys did a good, thoughtful job.
The real shame of this addition is the amazing tree in their yard that will have to be chopped down. Other than that, at least neighbors won’t have to hear the kiddies having gym outside anymore. And the new building’s modern look blends pretty well with the old mansion.
You need to register(free) for the B’lyn Eagle. Its actually in yesterday’s edition.
Hmmm…THis article was from last week and there’s no way we’re aware of to link directly to it, so the current front page is the best we can do…
B’stone, there’s no reference to PP in the link you provided… (it is only the frontpage of the B’lyn Eagle).
