Three buildings–one rehabd and two new-builds–at the corner of Sterling Place and Seventh Avenue are finally being brought back to life. It’ll be interesting to see what the facade of this one ends up looking like.

I live on the same block of Sterling as these developments, and construction is still dragging on. If anybody thinks any of these will be “affordable” (including the three soon-to-be-ex-Section 8 buildings now being sold next door to the development) they are living in dreamland!
I was a kid when that accident took place and was at school a few blocks away from where the other plane crashed at Miller Field in Staten island. To this day I can recall the sound of that plane coming down, a loud grinding sound, and how the teacher and everyone in the class went silent when we first heard it. Like time stood still.
Re: 5:20 I live right on the flight path in PH and when its a foggy night and you hear the engines change pitch quickly when the plane is close I positively cringe.
I remember being a child living in Queens when it happpened. Brooklyn was a world away – I neve set foot in BK until I was an adult, but it was a great tragedy and the whole city mourned.
When I hear planes fly low over my house I think of that accident..
I live at this intersection, though not when the accident happenend. I can’t wait for these to be finished! The construction not pictured here has been going on for over 2 years. This one just started last spring.
The two pics are facing the same direction. The new building is what was built in place of the brick building that is sort of still standing in the older pic.
re: affordable housing, they are selling three buildings right next to these developments that are affordable housing.

I was just thinking something similar to that. while I wouldn’t be afraid of ghosts I was thinking maybe they should make this affordable housing in light of what happened and possibly because ppl may not be comfortable. then on second thought I realized that ppl in NY real estate are vultures, I doubt ppl will be willing to overlook what happened for this Park Slope location and I doubt developers will be willing to give up some of that profit.
will it be bad luck to live there? i’d be scared and afraid of the ghosts, may they rip.
