Choice's Grand Opening Last Night
Given how starved Clinton Hill is for more upscale food options, we were thrilled to hear such positive reviews from attendees of last night’s opening party at Choice. We’re looking forward to becoming regular consumers of its sandwiches, croissants, etc. Bring it on! The demand is there. Hopefully the warm reception the shop is receiving…

Hopefully the warm reception the shop is receiving will encourage others to step up to the plate. Similar things happening in your neighborhood? Take a photo and send us a report!

K-Dog & Dunebuggy’s recently started selling quiche, too. It’s home-made and it’s the BEST quiche EVER! I don’t live in New York, and I wish we had a K-Dog’s here! You’re lucky!
I went by today too and I think they’re just overwhlemed with the turnout and still ironing out eht kinks. I had quite a good spinach and feta quiche.
We just tried Choice. The food is not bad but the service is slow and inefficient. That is specially true of the girl behind the counter. She is forgetful and slow. She ruins the pastry by stuffing it in a bad. This place needs improvement by getting rid of bad employees and a faster cook.
Sorry to disappoint those dreaming of a wonderful takeout supper, but I just passed by and their official opening is tomorrow (Friday) morning.
It beats the suburban housewives of my youth who’d line their purses with plastic bags to load up on Cookie’s free shrimp at the unlimited salad bar!
very true, but don’t forget that those students are some of the people that make this a fun and interesting neighborhood aside of having parents that spend so much money into pratt wich hopefully helps making this a better place.
i went last night and the food was amazing… amazing fresh made pastries that were high-end restaurant quality. and apprently they will be selling meats and breads as well. Homeade croissants in the morning!
Free food is always a draw for Pratt Students. Back when I was a starving artist, working on my BFA at Pratt; I went to every MFA opening reception as there was always a spread of food. You could make lunch or dinner out of the event. The finely honed freeloaders wore their Canal Jeans vintage suit jacket or overcoats and lined the pockets with plastic baggies to take back for a later meal.
K-Dog has become a required stop on my way to the subway in the am — good coffee and tea, really nice people, lots of people from the neighborhood, and really good interesting muffins.
And today for the first time, I saw they were selling “yesterday’s muffins” for half price. In addition to appealing to my inherent cheapness, I just love the idea of not throwing out good food, and also the phrase just seemed so poetic or something. Got to figure out how to use that as an expression — could it be used to describe something that you no longer care about — like, “Please forget about it — it’s yesterday’s muffins” or to decribe someone or something behind the times — “That’s so yesterday’s muffins!” or, more positively, a bargain-priced find — “Check out this yesterday’s muffin I just got at the store — only $19.95!”
