Just down the street from the Court Street bank blitz, there’s a new development going up at 63 Schermerhorn Street. Anyone know what this is going to be? Though this block, between Court and Brooklyn Bridge Boulevard, feels more commercial than residential, those window cut-outs look like they’re made for apartments.

I lived in the townhouse- the first one of that group of three. Why would you want to get rid of Bruno’s? I wish there was a place like that by me now! And actually that brick building is owned by them. Used to have tenants when I first moved over there in 1980 and then was mainly storage for Bruno’s for the last 10-15 years or so.
I can’t tell since I don’t know much about pricing but is 750,000 for your building a bit low? People said the dorm would hurt prices on that block.
I live on the block (and a 1-bedroom in our building just sold for $750K) and the building you cite has a crane up blocking the street with no permit. Also, next to it is a large brick building that is also being rennovated. Now, if we can only get rid of Bruno’s…
I lived on that street. It was about 1/2 residential and 1/2 commercial but the “commercial” included a church, a medical facility for the hotel trades, a high school for young parents and the Brd. of Ed. Which are the other 2 projects you’re referring to? Did you mean the Dormitory and the building going up on COurt & State?
It’s going to be rental units.
That’s actually project #4 on that block. It may have not seemed residential in the past. But that’s changing.
I lived right across the street from that, but left 2 years ago, before they tore down a beautiful old church that had been closed for years. Now that would have made beautiful coops or condos – it was big too.But they are packing residential buildings in every inch they can find. The Board of Ed building is being converted into apts. by 12Trees.
