Bed Stuy Reno's Masterful Tiling Job

floor
The creative juices are really flowing over at the Bed Stuy reno. They've laid a tile floor that is a play on a carpet that has been cut in half to fit in the room. This is the kind of thing that, if done wrong, would be a real bummer. But these guys really pulled it off. Very cool, in our opinion.

Where did you get those tiles?

Do they have to be laid individually?

They look really old school. Not sure about the crown, but overall I like.

This is a DIY job? You totally just put me to shame. I think I'm hot sh*t when I do a simple border. We're about to re-do a bathroom. Wait until my husband gets a load of this! Warning: you may get a nasty email from him, like, "Why did you give my wife crazy ideas?"

Gorgeous! We were happy just to get our tiles to stick to the floor. Then they popped off.

If you're restoring a Victorian bathroom, you might want to check out the custom borders available in small square tiles through American Olean dealers. You just shade in a grid showing the design, pick your colors, and order by the linear foot. They can make you corners to match the design, as well. Delivery is about six weeks, and the tiles come mounted on mesh, ready to grout. I've done three bathrooms with these borders, and it really dresses them up - then you just fill in the center field with hex tile, or whatever.

Nice pattern. But it looks like that waste line is ruining the nicest peice of the design. what's up with that?
