love lane
Because of its subscription policy, all we know from today’s Brooklyn Eagle article on the Love Lane garage conversion (which was approved by LPC last week) is that it will be called Love Lane Mews, include 38 apartments and two townhouses, and have a contextual design. What did we miss by not paying $49.91 for monthly access?

  1. 1:12 pm here. I buy the Eagle at a newstand every day, the most convenient way for me to ensure that I get it, and I am supposed to fork over another $50/year to re-read articles that I forgot to clip before recycling the paper? When is this city of 2.5 million going to get a real daily newspaper?

  2. I think it is very creative of the developers to have chosen that spot, though I am a little nostolgic for that freaky little enclave. I used to live around the corner… By the way, I clicked onto the Forgotton NY link you had up before to refresh my memory of how that street is laid out and absolutely loved the info and pictures on that site. Mr. Walsh certainly has a poetic sensibility.

  3. Okay, here is (from my newstand copy; the subscription rule is for the birds)what you missed from the 2/2 article:
    * Neither the owner nor its development partner spoke to the reporter
    * LPC approval was for minor exterior modifications and rooftop additions, the latter shorter than originally proposed
    * B’klyn Heights Assoc: disappointed that it is not clearer how visible the shorter additions would be from the street (no revised “mock-ups”)
    * No DOB permits yet
    * Some environmental clean-up anticipated; gas pumps previously on site
    * Reporter references (about one-third of the article!) coverage on Brownstoner
