Development Watch: 756 Myrtle Avenue

This Scarano-designed development at the corner of Myrtle and Nostrand combines seven lots and will be almost 100,000 square feet when it's completed later this year. We think it's a great thing for the neighborhood but are confused about one thing: It looks to us like Mr. S has signed off on the DOB filing, despite the deal he cut last year. Given that the filing was on the first day of the new year, is it possible there was a time limit and that he's back in action? Or was this not a self-certification and just a regular application that DOB signed off on prior to approval?

I'm glad to have these developments. I wonder when this one will be finished. Last year when I checked the Scarano site I think the completion date was supposed to be in November. I thought it was Nov. 2006. Maybe it was Nov. 2007.

Brownstoner,
Self-certification is laypersons terms for "Directive 14", and is listed on the DOB form as "D-14". The form you linked to is filled out as follows:
D-14 Applicant of Record: NOT APPLICABLE
So it looks like this is not a Directive 14/self certified project, meaning that it went through a full review at the building department.

This application was originally Self-Certified by Scarano. But alas since he tried to cheat the system too many time this jobs was audited like every other job that he self-certified (which is quite a few). The audit was accepted on 1/31/07, which mostly likely means he either has received objections & is resolving or attempting to resolve them or is awaiting the results of the audit. Word is they have started out sourcing this work to Columbia.
