What a wonderful place to be able to call "home", and how awful to have to pack up and leave... I hope anonymous 2:44 PM that you weren't displaced... hope you moved on for happier reasons.

2:44 here - very happy reasons, thanks bren. The building went co-op circa 1980 if I remember right. Everyone who bought there within the next 20 years profited from the FG/CH boom, and several of us were able to become "brownstoners" as a result. So no displacement here, just a bit of nostalgia.
Before going co-op the place was a private school for many years (you can still see the school bell in the foyer). Can you imagine what a grand single family home it must have made in the 1870's?
