As Curbed reported a few minutes ago, CPC and Isaac Katan have just given the public the clearest idea yet of what they’re hoping to do at the Domino Sugar site in Williamsburg. The rendering above comes from a 30-page Draft Scope of Work just released on the City Planning website that we’ve barely had time to scratch the surface of. First impressions: The refinery (which in all likelihood will be landmarked) is intact but it looks like the Adant House at the Southern end of the site and the iconic Domino sign have been relegated to the dust bin of history. Other than, lots o’ towers.

This is a good plan that i am totally on board with. However, the design aesthetic of the new buildings are a key aspect to the project. Please, no more crapola, gray brick and glass towers!!!
For months people have been fretting of the demo of the plant. So now it’s being preserved as part of a development which includes affordable housing in a blighted area which is a win situation. Now seems like you’d be happier if it was just an abondoned factory site which you’ll never visit anyway but at least it will look “industrially cool” when you’re out boating on the East River.
And bury Katan, Radufsky, Boymelgreen, Gutman, and all the rest of their associates, under those pieces of CRAP.
Yes! Just the way I like it. Bring on the towers!! Yahoo!!
