In our continuing struggle to keep up with the developments projects in Downtown Brooklyn, we present a rendering for what architect Karl Fischer calls 168 Nassau Street. Back in 2005, the architect tried twice to get plans approved for a 21-story. 85-unit tower that Isaac Hager wanted to build around the corner from the Bridgeview Tower overlooking the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge. According to this story in the NY Post, the project was slated to cost $45 million. After the two DOB rejections in 2005, the trail goes dry. Does anyone know why the project was put on ice? The only theory we can come up with is that Hager had trouble clearing the 14-unit residential building at 180 Nassau Street that is part of the project’s footprint. Or perhaps he had trouble with the financing. Regardless, we’re more than happy to see that the old Mayfair Ship Suppliers building at 172 Nassau still standing as a result. GMAP P*Shark DOB
