It’s hard to believe that it’s only been about a year since the Dutch Mustard Building was torn down to make way for a new condo building. (Other than the Greenpoint Terminal Market, of course, this qualifies as the biggest preservation loss in North Brooklyn we can think of since the current building boom began. Anything we’re forgetting?) Undeterred by such nostalgia (or the graffiti of some of its neighbors, on the jump), Steiner Equities has been plugging away on the foundation for its 178,000-square-foot building that’s slated to contain 114 apartments and nine townhouses. What’s more, the pace must be about to pick up, judging from the fact that the grand opening party (complete with gymnasts, we’re promised) takes place tomorrow night at the sales center at 242 Wythe Avenue. We’d appreciate a report back about pricing.

  1. I’d guess that opening party is for the opening of the sales office, diagonally across from Relish at N3 and Wythe. The gymnasts are probably from Streb, a gymnastics company/school that occupies a warehouse space on the block of 80 Met. I seem to recall that Steiner had bought the rest of the block, including the Streb space, and were putting together plans that included space for the company in the new development.
