We knew that the Landmarks Preservation Commission has been getting increasingly interested in preserving the Brooklyn waterfront (while putting LPC’s seal of approval on the Domino Sugar Factory last week, commish Tierney referenced “LPC’s commitment to preserving industrial Brooklyn”), but we hadn’t realized that plans for protecting Dumbo were moving along so quickly: While nothing Dumbo-related’s listed yet on the LPC’s website, the cobblestone belgian-blocked hood, which was calendared in July, is the only item thus far on the October 30 agenda, according to an email from the Historic District Council yesterday (and confirmed for us by LPC). It’s just a public hearing—no vote til later—but it’s a great chance for people to stand up, literally, and have their voice heard on the matter. No word yet on whatever area’s might make the cut for that day.
