When we last checked in with 107-111 Lawrence Street, the site where the Clarett Group plans to erect a 51-story residential tower, it was October and it had been four months since the original new building application had been disapproved. Since then, a couple of permits for tree protection and underpinning work have been granted (which may explain the digger in this photo), but still no green light on the tower. Anyone heard when this might get rolling?

  1. bk flatiron had some building permit issues that recently cleared just before x-mas – you can see details in the DOB records. it seems as if they’re now working on clearing the excavation/foundation permit now that the building perameters are nailed down. once that’s done – off to the races.

excavation and foundation work is a bit complicated here due to the subway tunnel – i think that may be slowing things down in the permit process.

  2. BKlove–You would think sticking a backhoe in the site would indicate something. However, the Flatillaryiron Building site has housed such equipment for a month or more now with no discernible activity. Have you noticed whether they are actually doing any work on that site?

  3. as you noted, permits were recently granted for the excavation and foundation work, and that backhoe is a very recent addition, as in w/n the week, so IT’S definitely about to go down right here.

with the grant of the underpinning and excavation permits, the building permit is inevitable at this point b/c much of the substance of the exc and support plans depend on the building specifics.
