The 11-story Karl Fisher-designed building on Luquer Street between Clinton and the BQE is now at full height—which is to say, quite a bit taller than any surrounding buildings. Despite the fact that the building is poised to be the highest residential structure to rise in the area in several years, it hasn’t generated anywhere near the community opposition that’s greeted other projects, like 360 Smith and the Clarett Group’s endeavor on Court. The lack of outcry (OK, there has been some) probably has a lot to do with the fact that the building is so near the BQE and thus somewhat removed from Carroll Gardens’ main residential drags. One of the project’s developers project happened to be at the construction site when we were taking photos yesterday, and he said the building will definitely be a condo and he thinks it’ll be complete in about six months. Seems optimistic, though one never knows. A resident who lives across the street told us that the project hasn’t “taken the street hostage” and that workers have been pretty good about cleaning up messes.
Size Doesn’t Matter on Luquer Street? [Brownstoner] GMAP DOB
I think it is not bad at all and for a million buck what do you want? I think it will actually help with the look of the BQE. I really do not consider this Carroll Gardens at all.
I’ve been told they will start around $1mil. There won’t be a lot of units but they will be large. I live two doors down. The lot has RATS — I just called 311 two weeks ago.
I really can’t imagine them selling for that much $$, no parking and the highway is loud – all of the time and this building is set back off Luquer closer to the highway and the service road into the Battery Tunnel. You get used to it but for a million bucks…I’m just not sure.
I’m preparing to be pleasantly surprised with this one.
does anyone know anything about who’s selling these and what the prices are?
