While the Clarett Group’s project at 340 Court has been the focus of plenty of neighborhood attention in recent months, another block further down Court that’s about to host not one but two new developments has more or less flown under the radar. Over at 525 Court, between 9th and Garnet, Basile Builders plans to build a seven-story residential structure (condo or rental TBD). The building (development site shown above) will be designed by Harry Radusky of Bricolage, according to DOB records. (Whatta team! One remember’s Radusky’s imprint from jobby-jobs like this, while Basile has had a hand in gems like this.) Meanwhile, on the corner of the same block, at 517 Court Street, a developer is demolishing the building that currently stands and has filed plans with the DOB for a six-story building. GMAP

  1. I don’t get it. There are 3 buildings in a one block radius that have had problems selling/renting (look at that 6 story building on 9th!) Someone really thinks they’ll make money here?

Did anyone get a look at the cinderblock wall at 529 Court when they took the other building down? Talk about shoddy. Glad I didn’t buy an apartment there! (never mind the cheap out of alignment aluminum windows).

    Crazy.

  2. I live very close to these two buildings and just hope all the major pile driving is done before the summer temperatures hit – but I’m being optimistic right? Will be really interesting to see how they fill these condos/rentals – look across the street on 9th between Court and Hamilton Ave. Big condo block newly built a few years back and remains empty still. Agree with others, glad to have that house gone – anyone know what happened the eccentric lady who lived there? The local rats kept her company – witnessed them coming in and out of the place. Eeshk.

  3. Bricolage’s shotty reputation aside, Basile Builders has completed 3 beautiful projects in Windsor Terrace that have greatly improved the landscape of the surrounding area. Hopefully, they’ll do the same here.
