We’ve never found there to be enough traffic at the western end of Broadway in Williamsburg to merit a mid-way stopping point for pedestrians, but maybe DOT’s thinking ahead on this one. Once residents of Northside Piers and the Edge are streaming up Broadway to chow down at Diner and Marlow & Sons, the stretch may be a whole lot busier.

  1. I concur with Zinka. And, it is probably smart to do it before there are a lot of neighbors to oppose it. Once the neighbors roll in improving the streetscape by making it nicer for pedestrians and bicyclist will be fought tooth and nail.

  2. Actually, my question is what are they putting in this median? Greenery, I hope. But then why not do the whole strip from Kent to Bedford and turn it into a mini Boulevard?

  3. Not to be picky, but they would just barely NOT walk by there. The median is in the middle of Broadway and both those restaurants are on the north side of the street

  4. Saw that too – the repaving makes Broadway real nice to ride down now, and the new median (which is painted up to Bedford) should limit the passing lane/speedway effect.

As for the Edge and Northside Piers, those folks will have to walk by here to get the J train. There’s no more room on the L.
