Last November we wondered what had become of this Scarano-designed apartment at 392 St. Marks Avenue in Prospect Heights. In 2005, work was proceeding on the project full-trottle, so much so that residents complained about construction starting at 6 a.m., and in 2007 the Department of Buildings issued a Stop Work Order. That Stop Work Order was rescinded in January but there’s still be no work at the site. We rode by last week and not a hair was out of place. Meanwhile, we found the above renderings of the interior on Durukan Design’s website. Check out those strawberry rain boots! Anyone know what’s going on?

  1. 392 St. Marks is just behind my bldg (on Prospect). My neighbor commented to me last nite that he did see someone on site a week or so ago but no work was done at the time. Like you mentioned Sarah, no work at all has been done in more than a year—i had concerns that the standing water in the place would lead to an outbreak of mosquitoes, as there’s pools that collect in the back of the structure after every rainfall. Whatever, never happened. Just finish the place already! Prospect Heights certainly had its share of bldgs. in construction limbo.

Re: the interiors….looks snazzy. I have to say though—will those slick floating stairs pass code?
