Sales might be down and out in the rest of the borough—by 43.6 percent compared to the second quarter of last year—but apparently things are bumpin’ over at The Edge’s sales office in Williamsburg. (Construction is humming along too, as you can see from the photo series above.) According to a spokeswoman for developer Douglaston Development, roughly 100 contracts have been signed since the first phase of the project was put on the market March 10. That’s one contract per business day. We did point out that StreetEasy, which must be updated by the sales team, only lists two units sold, but she said the developer won’t put out an official sales report until September. Units at The Edge range from $440,000 for a 490-square-foot studio to $2.735 million for a 2,544 square foot townhouse.

  1. the edge is on the NORTH side on the waterfront… dumbo is next to major projects and those units sell. waterfront is waterfront. the northside of the burg is old italian historically and now, full of hipsters, hupsters, successful artists and yuppies. hardly near the hispanic hood or projects.

  2. Too bad for the buyers that Williamsburg is starting to become one of the most crime ridden neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Shootings and murders in the Lorimer L station? It happened. Gang violence, machete attacks, and at least 10 shootings / 2 murders on the Southside per weekend? Check.

They’re paying 2008 prices for a neighborhood with a 1999 safety level, and it’s only going to get worse. Have fun!!!!!

  3. So are they going to be building towers at some later date in front of this building on the riverbank, a la Northside towers, or will this place have a clear view of the East river in perpetuity?

  4. regardless of sales hype, the plans for this place look fantastic. no matter what the market is doing, you cannot take away the views and the location.

this place could be spectacular. i live west of here, and my neighbor and i are already figuring out how we can get in to use the pool that will overlook the river and manhattan.
