Last time we checked, 340 Bond had just graduated from the cinderblock phase, its (faux?) wood cladding starting to be affixed. Well, it’s down to finishing touches phase (the last permit was for shoring the party wall), and The Developers Group has begun marketing the Asian-themed building as The Satori (it’s a Japanese Buddhist term for enlightenment). The building is “fueled by nature and the simplicity it provides to create unique residences originated to enhance, not interfere with, life,” according to the Web copy&#8212maybe that’s why the windows are small? Per a representative for the building: “Pricing has not been released yet, but TDG/The Developers Group is starting priority appointments the week before and after Labor Day.”

  1. anyone know anything about the rumor that the developer is applying for section 8 housing status?…your neighbors will be mentally ill or junkies if that happens..like i said ..rumor..

  2. Hey Seahag and bxgrl, i wish you two would move away, i also live around the corner and was almost bought out by the wastes of life who built this slag of cement. This will no longer be a quiet block, there is garage so enjoy the increased Noise, automobile and foot traffic and noise this eye sore brings with it. its a shame you can afford to live where you do, its individuals such as yourselves that have turned this neighborhood into a Gentrified yuppie paradise, get lost and get out..

  3. Maybe I’m cynical but seriously? Enlightened living?! “fueled by nature and the simplicity it provides to create unique residences originated to enhance, not interfere with, life,”

    My “senses are awakened” alright, and they smell bulls$*%.

    What a crock.

  4. I also live around the corner, and I love the location. It’s very quiet, close to the subway and Smith Street, and never smells! I’m looking forward to seeing how those apartments look, but I’m wondering if there’s an elevator. Wouldn’t it be strange to build a new building of that size with no elevator?

  5. It’s kind of crappy precisely where it is but the surrounding streets are all very pretty and it’s close to subway and the rest of CG, as well as heart of 5th ave in PS. Also, VERY quiet here and no through traffic to speak of which is great. The windows do make more sense when you see the inside, but I still think it’s an absolutely retarded design. I live around the corner on 1st btw hoyt and bond and you never ever smell the gowanus – according to my neighbors it used to be a big problem, but no longer.

  6. I love it- and that’s a shock for me because I love old houses and architecture.But i just think this is such a beautiful, artistically done building. I love the interior spaces too. Ah well, another building I can’t afford (:-{

  7. I wonder how that facade will endure the test of time? I walked by the other day, and it looks like it’s made of plastic. I’m curious what the prices will be, because it’s a pretty crappy location.

  8. don’t think you need the ‘?’ after faux. That look getting a bit trendy. Just saw it inside new Pret sandwich shop on 3rd Avenue and further up Bond used on a 2 unit bldg.
    But I do like it .
    Inside, (the trademark Scarano loft) the stairway look treacherous.
