The Landmarks Preservation Commission meeting scheduled for August 12th never got off the ground for lack of quorum. If it had, the commissioners would have discussed the proposed creation of a garage and parking area within the courtyard of 20 Joralemon Street, the 1890 building designed by Alfred White known as the Riverside Apartments. The two-level garage structure (the lower level of which would be below-grade) is proposed as part of a complete makeover of the building’s courtyard, which was ripped apart by the creation of the BQE and later paved over by a previous owner. A decision on the plan, renderings of which are above, will now have to wait until September.
Seems like an attractive plan.
what would really be great there would be a glass dome or giant skylight to protect the garden and occupants from the BQE.
