scarano4thave.jpgDespite some troubles early on, 255 4th Avenue is making progress. The project’s last permit allowed for the erection of pipe scaffolding in August, and they’re on their way to reaching 12 stories pictured in the rendering. Here’s how Scarano Architects describes the project on its Web site: “The twelve story tower at 255 4th Avenue in Brooklyn is a pioneer in a major redevelopment that is taking place along this portion of 4th. Once known as “no man’s land”, the valley created by the slope down from Prospect Park and the Carroll Gardens hill, this area has been rezoned for high density residential uses, and buildings such as this 50,000 square foot residential development are transforming the area, turning it from a morbid industrial zone into a cohesive neighborhood.” But Gowanus Lounge reported that Scarano is no longer on the project (it’s White Plains-based Armand Quadrini), and that despite being marketed as “green,” it’s far from it. More from them here.

  1. Not as bad as the “finger of 4th Avenue” across the street.

Who builds 12 floors on a 20 foot wide lot?!

Gregory Rigas is the owner of that ugly brown skinny building.
