Given the current meltdown and the fact that the house is only 17 feet wide, that’s going to be tough, but, man, whoever ends up here is a lucky duck.

I really don’t think that there is any issue with going and having a few drinks with some folks on the board, especially if blog names are maintained. It will be fun in fact. Hope lots of you can join.
Now that everyone is smoking their post-coital cigarette, I’d like to say that I actually prefer the kitchen as is. Somewhere someone made the point that if you could negotiate a price that would let you drop 100k on the kitchen, you’d have exactly what you want.
Best thing about this house, besides the center stair, is the parquet floors. Nice!
Jesus, bkny. Yes, no offense taken. It isn’t offensive in the least to get your 1000% concurrence with 11217’s comments which put me as a rude, snippy, nasty, self-entitled, “incredibly spoiled” princess who has sex constantly with her “perfect” husband (did I say that??). The contrast between this apparently rather common perception of me and my actual self is laughable.
I’ll just lighten up. As I’m sure will Biff who was made out to be some sort of virtual predator out to get us and we must, MUST be forewarned.

Mr. B, I think it would be great if you can do the “6 months later” feature with your HOTD, not just the Open House picks. Or maybe you could consolidate a week’s worth of HOTD’s to do in one 6months later thread. I’d love to see how some of these houses fare 6 months out…
i think this house is lovely and overpriced. i am not a fan of having the kitchen and dining room on seperate floors. i was in a 16-17ft wide house in CH with this set up & b/c the house was narrow the stairs were steep and narrow and just didn’t look to be a good set up. they also had a ‘den’ across from the kitchen and said the layout worked for them – whatever. also not being zoned for 321 is a problem for a family in this price range b/c that is a public-private school.
i know i’m 6 hours late on this but here is my 2 cents on the, biff, 11217, nokilissa drama – i read this site regularly and i don’t always have the time or energy to comment. i have been reading this site for over 2 years. i agree almost 1000% with everything 11217 says here today and most days. i do not think he is racist or off base about nokilissa (no offense intended). biff is entertaining. the anonimity (sp) to me makes it more interesting. i know who DIBS is b/c i have seen him several times in the ‘hood. i have never gone up to him & said – ‘hey aren’t you DIBS, i’m bkny’. why? b/c i like it this way. the bottom line is we are all very nosey people – that is why we are here commenting on other peoples home’s & lives. if we are looking up strangers on property shark – what makes you think me or someone else is not going to investigate your situation after you meet & become ‘friends’. i know what ALL of my friends paid for their homes etc..as i am sure you all do also.

Nokilissa- I didn’t hand you tissues snarkily. I meant it humorously. If you re-read it I also gave 11217 valium. I just think that we all ignored the comments because they weren’t nice. Rather than escalate it into some “what-like” never ending argument (which seems to have happened anyway) you put it on a virtual mute. Frankly, I was surprised that you took so hard and took other to task for not coming to your defense. Basically what I’m trying (poorly it seems) to say is, does it really matter what 11217 thinks about you?
It was more a comment about keeping the posters and their comments in perspective not holding them and their opinions so close to your heart.

and sam! why, I’m touched, although I must correct you. the live cable wires are my hair, yes, fashionably coiled,my superhero outfit is ever so fashionable, although honesty compels me to say that the bustle and farthingale offer a bit too much wind resistance to fly easily. I originally wanted to go with a classic Medusa look but that necessitated scaly yellow bird feet and I just couldn’t give up the shoes.
The house is lovely- I love the kitchen but I would do some work in there. Some great old cabinets. Copper farmhouse sink is a yes! But the price is still way out of reach.
Well, that was fun reading, all I can say, Nokilissa. is that seeing as you get more sex than I do, you deserve it ;).
Don’t be too concerned about Townhouselady, after all, she loves AGAs! (also 😉 in case anyone’s humor-impaired.)
Good Lord. What began as an impassioned and, I daresay, transferential personal attack by 11217 on me – the “clearly” self-entitled princess, who overlooks no opportunity to flaunt her price range (huh?) or disparage hipsters and trustfunders (again, huh? Can you find me a SINGLE example?) – devolved into Townhouselady, with whom I’d never had any kind of issue, snarkily handing me virtual tissues while erroneously concluding I’d not defended myself, was “feigning shock” (could she possibly buttress 11217’s perception more?) and using my own half-kidding self-disparagement as disparagement of me, followed by a rapid downward spiral of pure paranoid bunk by 11217 with regard to Biff, who happened to step in to ask WTF with regard to said attack.
This was pleasant. And I truly apologize to all if my initial read on the house or my half- hearted and half kidding attempts at fending off the vitriol being spewed my way (at my family too? C’mon.) has instigated this downward spiral.
