Number 581 5th Avenue at 16th Street will be a coffee shop, according to DOB filings that reveal a $42,000 interior renovation. It’s sat empty for a long while, after a stint as a 99 cents store, and this, too, should make up for the closings of Tea Lounge and Café Eleven (unless the same folks are opening up shop here?). There should be a new influx of latté sippers thanks to the Fifth Avenue Modern and a few other projects in the area, so hopefully it’ll have enough customers; the space takes up two storefronts.
