This little corner of the Slope (or South Slope, depending on if you think South Slope starts at 9th or 15th Streets), is seeing more and more action: restaurants and cafés are making their way down 6th Avenue. Now, a new one will join them. Slope’s Bistro Restaurant Bar and Grill is moving into number 522 (a spot that got a little graffiti cleanup in June), on the corner of 14th Street. GMAP
^Forgot to remove the quotes^ Your south slope state of mind is sharp today..:)
Dizzy,
Where did you dig that quote up? Did I say that before? Because I didn’t say that in this thread.
“I live in South Slope and call my self a South Sloper because I took a chance to live in the hood.” Your a real renegade Slopefarm. I walked through there yesterday and got robbed by masked stroller moms.
Beansprouts usually takes any storefronts that open up along that section of 6th Avenue.
Park Slope, South Slope… at least they don’t call your neighborhood BoCoCa.
At any rate, this generic style restaurant looks like a non-starter, but we shall see…
There is a diagonal maginot line that marks where the brownstones end and the brick houses start mixing it up with frame houses, vinyl siding, a stray tenement or two and newly overbuilt infill monstrosities. For example, 13th Street/8th Ave = Slope; 13th Street/5th Ave= South Slope. It’s a state of mind and a state of architecture. 14th & 6th (the corner in the photo) — definitely South Slope. We S. Slopers are looking forward to this new addition to the hood, whether or not the food, or name, is any good. It will bring some life to a neglected corner. The bodega that was there before was only open about 3 hours a day.
Speaking of Park Slope retail, Lisa…you should write up something on this new “store” that opened on 7th between Lincoln and Berkeley Place. It’s called Layla or something like that…
It’s odd though…it doesn’t exactly seem quite like a store, but I think it is.
In any event, the space is GORGEOUS!
Stop making up names for neighborhoods Brownstoner. Soon Sunset Park will be called Sun Slope….oh damn…NOOOOOOO!
Wow!
“Slope’s” covers it all: a bistro, a restaurant AND a Bar and Grill!
Restaurant naming department:
Fail.
