toll-brothers-gowanus-0109.jpgThe City Planning Commission held its hearing yesterday on the 3-acre rezoning of Gowanus to clear the way for Toll Brothers’ proposed 460-unit development, reports The Real Deal; the developer expressed confidence in its ability to finance the project. Gowanus Lounge thinks it’s a pipe dream in this environment. CPC will vote on February 17, followed by the City Council within 50 days.

  1. Here and Bed Stuy will be the place to invest when this economic depression ends.

    ***Bid half off peak comps***

  2. This is pure folly – Wholefoods couldnt clean up their lot on the Gowanus for a store – and these developers think they are going to be able to clean and insure lots for residential living?? Who would finance something like this – I mean its not 2007 anymore.

I do like the picture with the Water Taxi – opening the Gowanus up for water based transport is an avenue that should be explored.

  3. I look forward to the inevitable: the rezoning passes, Toll Brothers digs a huge hole in the ground, then it sits there for a decade. 😛
