It’s all blood and guts over at the defunct Con Edison power plant on Kent Avenue at Division Avenue. The demolition began last spring and proceeded quickly at first. Lately, not so much: Compare our photo above with one from Curbed two months ago. Late last summer, concerns began to mount about the environmental impact of the 100-year-old structure, a worry poo-poo’d by the utility. “The careful planning in connection with the remediation and demolition of the obsolete and antiquated Kent Avenue plant has been ongoing for some time, and is being carefully carried out in a way that is environmentally responsible and safeguards the community,” Con Ed spokesman Robert McGee told The Sun in August.
